Postpartum Hair Routine with Kenra

So, a new fave hair care brand of mine, Kenra Professional, has released several new products over the summer and I got to try them out!  One good bit of information to know is that in 1929, Kenra was founded in Indianapolis with a "no tweeze" wax depilaroty. They then were purchased by barber and entrepreneur, Henry J Meyers in 1959 and in 1960 the Kenra haircare line was released. Kenra's passion is developing best-in-class innovations, delivering superior and reliable results. I'd say they're doing that pretty darn well!

After I had babies, my hair issues went to a whole 'nother level. Dryness, split ends, and weird baby curls at the crown of my head became a battle I had to wage every. single. day. Not to mention, the now lack of attention I was able to give my hair simply by just having kids (#notimeformama) didn't help my case. Now a days, I'm looking for minimal effort with amazing results. It may be like looking for that majestic flying unicorn, but dang it, my hair is worth it and I know it's out there. When Kenra's new Summer Launch came out and they offered to send it to me to try out, I was crossing all my fingers and toes that this was the answer to my postpartum (hair) prayers.

The Summer launch consisted of the Snail Anti Aging Collection, Shaping Spray 21, and the Heat Block Hairspray 22.

The Kenra Professional Snail Anti-Aging Collection contains the Snail Anti-Aging Shampoo, Conditioner and the 10-in-1 CC cream. I went ahead and shampooed and conditioned my hair as usual and applied the CC cream from the mid-shaft to the ends of my hair before throwing that baby up in a mom bun, because ain't nobody got time for blow-drying. When I took my hair down for the night, my hair was left super soft and manageable.

My hair is super dry, has split ends and it often looks dull. The snail collection products made my hair really soft and healthy looking after just the first use. So, you're probably like, that's nice and all, but what's with this snail stuff. Right?!

Snail Essence is Korea's fastest growing beauty secret.  In case you're curious, snails are not harmed in the making of this product. The "essence" is a natural protein that is derived from snail slime. I know snail essence is commonly used in skincare, but this is the first time I've seen it used in haircare. It smooths, soften, and fills in the cracks of your skin and hair.  When used in the hair, it fights 10 signs of aging hair:

  • Dulling
  • Thinning
  • Breakage
  • Frizz
  • Dryness
  • Elasticity
  • Porosity
  • Scalp irritation
  • Unmanageability
  • Coarse texture

I'm not really all too concerned about the slime part, as much as I am about the fact that I want this stuff to really work! The Anti-Aging products, when used together, made my hair insanely soft and I found that my hair felt really light, as if it had a lot of body, which is really a rare feeling for me. I think this line is amazing because we often think about anti-aging skincare, but self admittedly I haven't put much thought into anti-aging for my hair. I'm all about that preventive care, so if these will keep my hair looking on point and healthy, I'm all for it!

So, now that I have my hair at 100%, how do I keep it that way for the week since mama only washes like, once a week. HAIRSPRAY, you say!

The Kenra Shaping Spray 21 is the first ever professional alcohol-free hair spray. It's about time! I was actually worried that without the alcohol it wouldn't dry quickly or would kind of look wet. After some trial and error, I figured out that the best way to use this is by using a light mist. That way you can prevent that wet look. The spray is amazing for keeping flyaways at bay when my hair is up in my go-to topknot.

The Kenra Platinum Heat Block Spray uses Bee Propolis (say what?) to protect your hair from heat, so it's perfect for date night when you whip out the styling tools. I used it before straightening and curling my hair to get that stronger hold and high-shine finish. When straightening it left my hair with a super sleek look. Also, both sprays smell amazing!

Now that I have my mom hair under control and I'm doing my part to fight anti-aging on my locks with little effort, I officially can say I love the new Kenra collection. They're incredibly innovative, crazy effective, and reasonably priced.
