As unreal as it is to me, we have been living in our home for a little over a year now! When we moved in I decided I really wanted to take my time and feel out the space to make each room feel like “us”, as well as make sure it would function for our family. As a result, our living room was pretty “bare bones” and not overly welcoming. Recently, I set out to turn our minimalist living area into a modern beach bohemian retreat that would invite our family and friends to make memories there.

There were two things I really needed to keep in mind when proceeding with this mini makeover. The first being we have two toddlers constantly running around with sticky hands touching things (and breaking them). From a design aspect that basically means the days of delicate glass accents are LONG gone. From a practical aspect it means if I want to preserve my style (and sanity) I was going to need a place keep toys and things out of sight. The second thing I need to consider was the feel I wanted to achieve, which is cozy and “lived in”. With help from some of my favorite small shops, and an Ikea hack I’m SUPER proud of, I was able to do a mini makeover that accomplished everything I wanted.

So here we are, a year later, with actual artwork on the walls, framed photos, pops of color, clever storage solutions, and plenty of pillows for snuggling up with my little tribe. If you forget the before, you can find it
here. It's so homey now, isn't it?!
I definitely couldn't have done it alone. I owe a lot to my friends over at Martha & Ash for working closely with me on designing the drapes of my dreams. The process was so EASY and Ashley guided me through it every step of the way to make sure it was exactly what I was envisioning for the space. RugsUSA partnered with me on finding the perfect shag that not only hides everything my toddlers dish out, but is also a cinch to keep clean. My new Etsy friends, that are so talented and produce the best quality home decor that I've ever seen. I love me some Home Goods, but you guys, nothing nothing beats getting to know the lovely ladies behind these businesses and knowing that your money is going straight to their families and helping them live the dream. Needless to say, I am thrilled with how it all turned out and can now say our Living Room feels like "us".
Because my new friends and I want to share the love, #letusupgradeyou! We're teaming up to give ONE lucky winner the chance to update their own space with some brand new items from all of my partnered shops.
