When it comes to my hair, I’ve learned late in life that it’s worth making the investment. In my early twenties, I really cut corners and it showed. Then later on when I started having babies, my hair really began to crave the attention it deserved. Flyaways and regrowth from pregnancy became a major issue for me, in addition to the course texture. I have really thick, wavy hair and getting that soft & smooth blow out was always a challenge. It’s not too hard to manage, but it does get dry and a tad frizzy at times, especially in the humidity.

Now being in my mid-thirties, I’m always looking for great products that will improve the appearance and texture of my hair.  I’ve really honed in on the few products that actually work, but to be honest, they’re kind of pricey. Finding a secondary option that was more budget friendly and that I could use regularly in between the “fancy” washes became a mission of mine.  I also needed it to be a hair product free of parabens, mineral oil, silicones, gluten, sulfates and dyes to fit my more natural lifestyle. I like knowing the ingredients that are in my shampoo and not putting unnecessary toxins on my body. Sulfates in particular are a deal breaker for me since I have color treated hair.

I was so excited to learn about a new hair care brand called HAIR FOOD and their new Moisture Collection with Manuka Honey & Apricot, I honestly couldn’t wait to give it a try. Hair Food’s mission is simple: feed your hair like you feed your body and they also believe that peace of mind comes from knowing what’s in the products you use. How perfect is that?! Not to mention, they are literally designed to protect color treated hair.

After using them for the past two weeks, I have to say I’m pretty impressed. I was a skeptic at first, but only because the low price tag seemed like it would make it less effective, but that wasn’t the case at all. The sulfate-free shampoo left my hair feeling clean, yet not completely stripped of natural oils. I also really love the bottle and the fact that it comes with a pump, which is so convenient. My hair feels super soft after using it and the natural shampoo + conditioner combo was really hydrating. I get balayage, so if you also have color treated hair, with summer right around the corner it’s important to infuse your locks with all the moisture they can get!

For a shampoo and conditioner of this caliber it’s crazy how affordable they are! The ingredients used in this new Sulfate-free Moisture Collection are definitely top notch and they make your hair smell heavenly!  Best part is that all Hair Food products are formulated without some of the most common toxic chemicals, including sulfates, parabens, dyes and mineral oil. Both the shampoo + conditioner are only $7.99 each and can be bought at a Kroger near you. It’s a really great and affordable product that I plan to add into my regular hair care routine ASAP. I loved how soft to the touch my strands were after using Hair Food and I know you will, too – At this price, be sure to give it a try!
