Sneak Peak -- Little Adi + Co Fall/Winter 2015 Collection

collection design designer easy pants Fall 2015 graphic tees Happy is the new Black line new sneak peek

It's about that time, y'all! Little Adi + Co is dropping their fall line this week! And take it from me (ahem, the Little Adi + Co assistant), it is not to be missed. Adrianne has been working nonstop to put together the most rad collection of threads for the tiny people in your life. And I figured, what better way to celebrate the launch than to interview Adrianne herself?!

--> What does your process consist of for creating a new collection?
When planning a new collection, I always reference my previous year to what worked and what didn't. I use that information to build out on the new season. I research new styles and start with getting them prototyped. I'll throw them on my kids or friends' kids to see if they fit my vision or something we need to continue tweaking. At the same time, I develop a loose color palette to work from and begin sourcing fabrics, trim and designing patterns. I'll swatch everything and start playing 'style jenga' to see what works in what bodies. For our graphic tees, I'm usually collaborating with an artist, so there's a lot of emails, phone calls, and doodles being thrown around for a few weeks until we approve a design and move forward with the screens for printing. It's a long arduous process that runs simultaneously alongside the final release of the current season - which involves website redesign, product photos, photoshoots, hounding manufacturers and printers, etc - so it's definitely important that I keep everything straight. Working between multiple seasons, is always a juggle.

--> Where do you draw your inspiration from to create a specific "look" or "vibe" for a season?
First and foremost, I always go with my gut. Being a designer formally, I always tend to have my finger on the pulse when it comes to trends, styling, and inspiration whether I'm designing or not.
When I was first starting out, I never trusted myself. Over the years, it must come with old age ;), I've become comfortable with my creative eye enough to know that I can not only interpret the trends, but can I forge my own as well. (ie. Bummies)
I also really believe in the natural progression of a collection, so I let my influences lead the way and what results is always something organically cohesive.

--> What new styles and designs can your customers look forward to?
New for this season, we have expanded on our layette pieces to build a more well-rounded shop for infants and newborns. Our trademarked Bummies™ have taken on a new appearance, as a basic bloomer, made from the softest bamboo cotton for the most sensitive skin. The attention to detail is apparent with our new organic cotton options, bamboo muslin swaddles, easy access rompers (that are also SO soft!) and a new range of classic infant beanies.

Although we love to offer a range of unisex pieces, there was one thing we couldn't deny - the dress. Our new Hi Lo T-Dress is the perfect addition to our line. Launching in the most perfect leopard print, it's basically the new neutral.

-->How would you describe the design + style of your new line?
This season, our new collection was literally inspired by my two boys and our day to day life. Together it has been a labor of love with emphasis on high-quality garments in jersey and soft knits made exclusively right here in the USA.

Keeping in mind the casual-chic style that Little Adi + Co is known for, each piece was designed to be functional and easy without compromising style for the active tot. Our graphic collaboration of fun & quirky illustrations by artist Chelsea Sena, revolves around original details, little touches of trendiness and lots of childish creativity.

This line seems classic at first sight, but offers basic cuts and trendy prints that are meant to be versatile unisex pieces that can be worn everyday. The clothes are made with children as the priority, with fabric, cuts and prints that are easy to wear.
--> How has your personal style influenced your fall line?
I'm a sucker for black, grey and white. Stripes are basically my uniform and I love to mix and match prints. You will always find these 3 elements not only within each of our collections, but definitely as the foundation for our new Fall line.

--> Which pieces are you most excited for your boys to wear?
My boys tend to naturally wear a lot of Little Adi (as you could imagine), but when it finally gets cool here in SC they absolutely live in their Easy pants. I can't wait to add the new prints and fabrics to their wardrobes.I'm also really excited for the Boys will be Boys raglan and the How You doin' tee -- these designs in particular were 100% influenced by my two crazies and I always get a little giddy when they finally rock the tees they've inspired.

--> The Little Adi + Co Fall/Winter 2015 collection in three words:

Kiddish. Elevated. Casual.

Well, there you have it! We are so excited to share the Fall 2015, "Happy is the New Black" collection this week, so stay tuned for release updates on our Instagram, as well as our website. Happy Shopping!
